Cadman’s Cottage (110 George Street, The Rocks, Sydney) — built in 1816, Cadman’s Cottage is one of only a handful of Sydney buildings that remain from the first 30 years of the area’s colonization. It was named after John Cadman, who was a convict in 1798 and who lived in the cottage until 1846. Over the years, this sandstone cottage has been a water transport headquarters, a sailors’ home and a water police station, among other things. It used to be beside the water, but since the construction of Circular Quay the harbor has ‘moved’ 100 meters away. Now, Cadman’s Cottage houses a small museum and the NPWS Metropolitan Branch Information Centre. Information is available on a range of guided tours, walks and activities available across national parks in the Sydney Region. Admission: free. Hours: 9:30 am – 4:30 pm (Monday – Friday), 10 am – 4:30 pm (weekends).

Australia Fair Shopping Centre (42 Marine Parade, Southport, Queensland) – this is a two-level shopping center servicing Gold Coast area consumers. Originally built in 1983, it currently has over 230 stores (like Woolworths, Kmart, Sam’s Warehouse, Footlocker, Payless Shoes, and various local & regional retailers). That, as well as the usual shopping mall amenities (eateries & restaurants, drug stores, banks, cell phone providers, etc.)

A Tavola (348 Victoria St, Darlinghurst, Sydney) — A Tavola was established in 2007 in buzzing Darlinghurst district by chef owner Eugenio Maiale. A Tavola quickly earned a reputation of being one of Sydney’s best places to go for authentic Italian pasta. The long marble table is filled with loyal and regular diners – all seduced by the simplicity and honesty of Eugenio’s food and especially his love of good pasta. It is also known as Sydney Super Dome.
